Trainee pilot

These portraits for an American client are painted over posters. The paper is sometimes shiny and sometimes matte so I have to use layers of paint to cover the images underneath. Acrylic paint is ideal for this as it can be used without too much thinning with water. I transfer the images using good old black typewriter copy paper. It shows up well against a dark and busy image and doesn’t lift when I apply the paint. The biggest problem is finding a masking tape that will keep the poster flat while I paint but won’t leave a sticky residue and to date I am still trying to find the answer to that!
