There is a great sense of excitement at a polo match and in this fast moving game ponies and riders stretch for an offside forehand shot or try to 'Ride off' their opponents. This was the action at a recent polo match. There are 4 members in a team and each member numbered 1 to 4 has a distinctive position.

No. 1: Is basically a goal striker.

No. 2: Is a forward, but also defends.

No. 3: Is often the highest rated player and plays an important role trying to turn all play to attacking polo. He defends as well as attacks.

No. 4: The back, has the role of defending the goal area.
